The Madara Rider is located near the village of Madara, approximately 18 kilometres east of Shumen and around 75 kilometres west of Varna. Furthermore, it is about 140 kilometres from Veliko Tarnovo, making it a possible day trip by car for visitors staying in the historic capital.
The site is easy to reach by road, and parking is available near the entrance. From there, a short but steep walk leads towards the famous rock relief. Although the path includes stone steps, it also passes through woodland and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
Comfortable shoes are recommended, especially during the warmer months. In addition, carrying drinking water is a good idea for the climb. Once at the rock face, visitors can see the famous Madara Rider as well as other archaeological remains within the reserve.
